Meet Doria Robinson
District 3 Neighbor,
My name is Doria Robinson, and I am honored to served as your City Council member representing District 3 since 2023.
I am a third-generation Richmond resident who has lived my entire life in this community and raised my children right here in District 3. Richmond isn’t just where I live, it’s home, it’s family, and it’s the place that shaped my values and commitment to public service.

Before serving on the City Council, I spent more than 18 years building and leading Urban Tilth, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a healthy, just, and sustainable local food system for families across West Contra Costa County. What began as a small, three-person volunteer effort on the Richmond Greenway grew into a thriving organization that now employs over 80 local residents, including many young people. Together, we developed school and community gardens, stewarded a 10-acre urban farm in North Richmond, and helped provide fresh, healthy food each week to hundreds of families. Just as importantly, we created opportunities—training young people, restoring local creeks, and building pathways to meaningful employment.
I was raised in the Apostolic Temple of Truth church community at Ohio and South 13th Street, where my grandfather, Bishop Vernon Robinson, served as minister. That community helped shape who I am. I spent my weekends and summers on our church’s 350-acre ranch in Fairfield, where the lessons went far beyond the land itself. It was there through shared work, service, and experience true faith in action that I learned some of my earliest and most enduring values: that real progress comes from working together, that we each have a responsibility to care for what we’ve been given, and that our actions must always be grounded in a deep commitment to our community.

That experience shaped how I lead: with a focus on delivering results, building partnerships, and investing in our community.
Over the past three years on the City Council, I’ve worked to turn these values into real results. I helped secure a historic $550 million settlement with Chevron, established the $1.5M Black Resiliency Project and Fund to confront long-standing inequities, funded immigration legal aid for vulnerable residents, and championed paid parental leave for all City staff, including those serving in demanding public safety roles.
I supported ALL initiatives brought forward by our Fire and Police Chiefs to fill critical vacancies and reduce mandatory overtime, improving both public safety and working conditions. I’ve also prioritized housing and neighborhood investment, supporting transitional housing through the Homekey Project, restarting stalled Nystrom Village and Mira Flores developments, funding 3 new soccer fields, addressing chronic flooding in Parchester Village, and investing in our parks, streets, and fire stations.
At the same time, I’ve pushed to make City Hall more inclusive, accessible, and effective by expanding language access at Council meetings and strengthening staffing across our public safety departments.
Beyond Richmond, I’ve been honored to serve since 2022 on the California Food and Agriculture Board, where I’ve worked to expand opportunities for disadvantaged farmers and help shape statewide policies on regenerative agriculture.
I believe leadership is about showing up, listening, and delivering real results. While there is still more work ahead, I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited about what’s possible for Richmond’s future.
With your support, I will continue working to build a safer, healthier, and more equitable Richmond for all.
Thank you for your time, your trust, and your vote.
